how to fix the problem of the driver-station ratio?
« dnia: 09 Maja 2024, 13:44:36 »
Dear Community,

during the last couple of months, I have noticed that the ratio between drivers and stations is alarmingly low. I remember "the good old times™" where it was usual to have 2x twice as many drivers as dispatchers.

In this thread I want to discuss and hear your ideas on what can be done to bring the ratio back up.

I for my part also see a big problem in opening multiple stations at once. Because now, the person opening multiple sceneries maybe has more to do, but it takes away work and gamefun from all the other dispatchers as there is less traffic for them and also for the drivers, as they mostly travel on empty rails, rarely encountering other trains than themselves. The big sellingpoint of TD2 for me is, that every action you have on the rail, every signal and every train is controlled by a real person and not a computer. But travelling on empty tracks takes away that magic for me. At this point, for me, there is little reason to launch the game, since I can also play a singleplayer game and have more or less the same experience.

But how do we fix the problem?

I have some Ideas, maybe the developers notice the thread and see the problem and can take some inspiration from:

- I was thinking about adding a notification in the game, that tells people that when the ratio starts to get out of hand, that now there are enough Sceneries online and some drivers are needed (and vice versa).
- Maybe even make it impossible to open a station when there are already as many sceneries as drivers.
- Limit the possibility of opening multiple stations (only 1 maybe 2 stations per person)
- have some other bonus system that rewards people that drive when theres to many stations and not enough drivers and vice versa
