How to open some mechanical signals
« dnia: 08 Października 2019, 22:30:53 »
Hi,

Sometimes I enjoy playing the dispatcher in Kolsko, a small station with a wonderful set of levers which controls the junctions and the signals.

Now, to open some signal, I have to pull up a lever on my right (e.g. "a 2 1"), while to open others it seems the lever has to be left down (e.g. "a 2 3").

Now, if a signal requires the lever to be UP, I have no problems: I ask for the route, I obtain it, I lock it, then I set the switches, set the Rg, I pull up the signal small lever, I push the signal button, the indicator turns from red to white and I can finally pull the actual signal lever, one of the big red ones. The signal is now open and the train is cleared to depart.

Instead, if a signal requires the lever to be left DOWN, I cannot even see the indicator turning from red to white.

How do I open these signals?
For example, how do I open C to SN?

Thanks :)

Sorry, the only Polish words I understand are "witam" and "kolej" :)
I'm learning some Polish train-related words. Please be patient if sometimes I ask to speak in English.

Hello :) I'm not 100% sure if this is the answer you're searching for, but you pull those small levers up with a left-click and down with a right-click.

What? Do those levers have three positions? I thought it was only up or down, and they were normally down. Instead, if I understand correctly, they start in a middle position and I have to pull them down, right?
Tonight I’ll try and I’ll tell if I manage to open one of these signals.
For now, thanks for your answer :)

You are right. They have 3 positions. And because of that plates beside them have description of two routes. The upper one is for upper position and bottom one is for bottom position. Don't worry that you didn't know that because, a lot of users make this mistake when they learn to be a signaller on these divaces.

Thank you so much! That fixed my problem!
I’m currently in Kolsko (until 22:30) and I just let a freight pass with one of those signals.

Also, is it my mistake or I can only open one signal at the same time?

It depends. If two routes don't have conflict you can lock two routes and set two signals, but for example route A may need switch 6 to be in the primary state and route B in secondary. Try always to keep as many levers (switch and signals) in their primary(up) positions. Set them to secondary positon only when you need to set route, and change levers only required for that route (you can see it on a description next to route lever). That's the easiest way to keep track of things for me.

Thanks.
I also follow the indications on the signal levers to know which switches and Rg I need to turn, and of course the system is designed to not allow some operations.
Anyway, when I had a freight train that didn't need to stop, it was not possible to me to open the departure signal without first closing the entry signal - the former was F, the latter B1, in Kolsko.

In the simulator, you can check if you allow routes without stopping. As I can see in editor signal F doesn't allow this kind of routes and because of that, you had to put B into primary(danger) state before switching F.
