The new EU-copyright law
« dnia: 26 Marca 2019, 22:13:19 »
Dear community,

as you might not have noticed -" today is a dark day for the free internet", as Julia Reda - a German politcian in Europe said. The new EU copyright law debate has been destroyed by politcians in Germany. We as opponents of upload filters, unequality in the Internet and monopoly of the big player in the internet got degraded as bots, bought people and people not understanding this thing of legislation. During the same time, in the German National parliament, politicians were lying about the new law and giving wrong information. All of those people came from the CDU/CSU party, the Conservatives here in Germany. When 1000 people go out on the streets with the motivation of xhenophobia, than the politicians say, that they have to take the issues of those people serious, and that they have to find a solution - but when more than 100.000 protest against a new EU copyright law, than those people are considered as bought, uninformed and infant people by the exact same party. Desinformation, lies and inobjectiveness followed by this party, that thus destroyed the seriousness of the debate. I would like to provide more information and sources, but it is all in Germany and thus in German. One thing I can give you, is the twitter account of Julia Reda, where she says some good things on a serious base for the free internet as we know it. https://twitter.com/Senficon

We can see the unseriousness of the CDU politcians by interrupting, screaming and shouting in the parliament, against a quiet, well-behaved lady. This is what I call infant, not the thousands of people on the streets and in the web protecting our internet.

We, being in favor of a free internet with free memes without copyright claims, thought we would have enough publicity and facts to change something. We did not do it - we failed. We failed because of lies, hatred and desinformation. Article 13 was transferred to be called Article 17, just a few days before the vote in the EP. A few weeks before Manfred Weber wanted to move the vote a week ahead, so that the protests on 23.03.2019 would have no effect. Luckily, this anti-democratic thing did not happen.
Today's voting has been build up in 2 parts - The first one was about whether to allow or close the new law for amendments, which could have resulted into removing Article 17 and to remove Uploadfilters, while guaranteeing a fair pay for artists and creator, without endangering our freedom in the internet. 5 MPs made the gap between closing the case and the amendments. We were close as hell. So the new law was closed. After that, the vote was whether to accept the new copyright as whole and this made it clear: The new copyright will come with upload filters, endangering our freedom here. The vote has been passed.
BUT! There is one last chance to stop it happen. The EU council, that represents the national governments of the EU, is going to have a vote whether passing the new copyright or not on 9th of April. If the representants of the national governments accept it, the new copyright has to be transferred into national legislation of the EU member states withing 2 years. If ONE national representation made up by multiple represetants the whole copyright is stopped.
My message: Please stop this copyright by calling, writing or meeting your Polish politicians in the EU Council, in order to stop this new law!

(The CDU/CSU could be compared to a little bit of a mix-up between PO and PiS since the PO is member of the European People's Party, like the PO. Both parties are in favor of the new copyright. Please be patient, objective and calm when speaking to politicians or their workers, because good criticism will work better that insults. MAKE A CHANGE.)
